The Dawn has two dining spaces called Aqua and Venetian. The main restaurants are primarily open for dinner with the Venetian being open for breakfast and sometimes open for lunch. The cabins come in different sizes to suit everyone’s budget, from the expected inside cabins, oceanview staterooms, balcony staterooms, and a selection of suites. It’s important to know though, that the Dawn does NOT have the “Haven” experience. Even though the ship was renovated in recent years, the concept of the Haven was not implemented.

Launched in 2005, Norwegian Jewel has regained its luster with an extensive refurbishment in late 2018. Upgraded areas include all cabins, suites, restaurants, cafes, the teen-only Entourage club, main pool and atrium. There are two new bars -- Bliss Ultra Lounge, offering dance music after dark, and The Pit Stop, a 1950s-themed bar with a view of the pool. Two Deluxe Owner’s Suites have also been added in The Haven. Since the size of the Dawn is smaller than more modern ships, you’d expect the pool and pool areas to be smaller as well.
The older we get, the better we enjoy family and friends joining us when we cruise. The Aqua dining room is interesting, considering it’s basically the same food as the main dining room. It’s a space tucked away and easy to miss, but it’s great for a more intimate feeling rather than a vast restaurant space. We preferred the Aqua dining room because of the vibe and being less ‘busy’ feeling.
We love O’Sheehan wings, and thanks for the advice on booking the shows once you get on board. While the ship was refurbished in 2016, the cabins were left mostly untouched. Even though they feel a little dated, the staterooms are extremely clean and well-maintained considering they’re mostly original materials and fixtures. Since NCL has cut back on entertainment fleet-wide, the lower caliber of entertainment is evident across almost all ships.
Cabins on decks 10, 11 and 12 are great for light sleepers, as they’re not shared with any loud public venues and are located above and beneath other rooms. The Norwegian Breakaway Haven suite complex, located on decks 15 through 17 and featuring its own private pool area and lounge, is also generally quiet despite sharing space with common areas. Inside, you'll find activities that range from trivia, bingo and Deal or No Deal during the day to song-and-dance revues or Broadway shows in the theater and live music or cabaret shows in the evening. Norwegian ships also have a lively bar nightlife. There's also an always-busy casino, which opens when the ship is out to sea. Plus, booking early gets you a better choice of cabins before they're gone.

The all-inclusive does not include all types drinks. Four types of mixed drinks were included but nothing for beer and other mixed drinks. The all-inclusive meal was served around the upstairs restaurant. Plenty of chairs up there and plenty of trees for shade.

Balconies in penthouses have full-sized lounge chairs. When you disembark, you will see the bathrooms and restaurant. You travel down a platform staircase to the beach where there is assistance with chairs and umbrellas. Really pretty beach with a bar at beach level.

Its entertainment shows and activities are good yet simple (think old-fashioned cruise entertainment) including comedy shows and live music events. The third tent was for getting your results. Instead of going to the buffet, Pam and I had a really nice lunch at O’Sheehan’s. Our favorite spot to grab breakfast and lunch on the go was the large O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill. Spacious and bright, thanks to windows on both sides, it dishes up guilty pleasure pub grub like fish 'n' chips and chicken pot pies.
NCL if any thing is very inconsistant at time. @kohanfam You should be fine just make your show reservations on your cabin TV when you get in your stateroom. The hardest reservations are the specialty Restaurants which is why I did that first.
And who can be in a bad mood at such a gorgeous beach??!! (Pam didn’t see much on her snorkel but enjoyed her swim.) Once again, don’t forget water shoes. There are heated tile loungers upon which you stretch out, wrapped in your bathrobe. When you open your eyes, you see a full panorama of the ocean. Next, you may choose to go into the sauna or the steam room or the salt room or the snow room. Very comfortable regular lounge chairs are present for sitting up to read a book.
No need to get up to the reservations desk. Just swipe your key card, choose your dining time and you're all set to go. @rjm11 I was on the cruise and someone not on the cruise, on CruiseCritic.com said the ship was going to tender at two ports. I was not happy because tendering is so uncomfortable.
